McCartney

There's nothing more exciting (or expensive) than when your favorite musicians decide to release re-mastered versions of their amazing albums. And even though you already have the music, you are forced to buy it again because the remastered sets come with bonus songs, pictures, etc. And so, that's what I did with Paul's first album since the Beatles' split; McCartney came not only with wonderfully re-masterd music and a dvd, but also with a book filled with lovely colored pictures taken by Linda around the time the album was made. Here are some of the scans for your viewing pleasure. Please remember to link back to my blog if you post the pictures anywhere else. Otherwise I will be forced to watermark future scans because Paul is not a free bitch and this book was really expensive.

In the book, Paul said that after the whole Beatles thing, he wanted to go back to the basics of recording, hence the beautiful simplicity of the album. He played all the instruments on the album himself, and since I can't play any, well that's very impressive indeed.

This was no doubt a very depressing time for Paul. Thank goodness Linda was there to encourage him and offered Paul "the escape" he was looking for. Here are some photos of the McCartneys on holiday in Scotland and Antigua.

A Rant

Do not come on my blog and tell me not to have a 'shit fit' when someone takes a scan of mine and posts it on tumblr without crediting. I buy these expensive books and scan the photos to share with whoever follows this blog, the least you could do is cite my blog as a source if you're going to be taking the pictures and posting them somewhere else. Is that not the nice and respectful thing to do? No, I didn't take these photos, but I usually credit the photographer or the blog where I get the pictures from, unless I don't know who the photographer is, or if the pictures are quite common and everyone has them. And if you supposedly have a better version of one of the pictures that I've scanned, as that anonymous person claimed, well damn, post your better version then, don't take mine without credit.

Top Groupies Of All Time: Pamela Des Barres and Catherine James

Pamela and Catherine are more my kind of groupie girls. Miss Pamela represents the west coast, with her flowing hair, lace and velvet dresses, she was the ultimate in California hippie glam. And Miss James represents the east coast, with straight blonde hair and dolly-bird make-up, she had an aura of New York cool.  I know I already made a post for Pamela here and Catherine here, but I felt the need to include them in my Top Groupies list. Also, I found more new photos of them, so I thought I'd post them here.

Behind the Photoshoot: Lennon and McCartney by David Bailey part tres

I finally got around to gathering these new Bailey contact sheets. Also included are individual contact sheets of John and Paul. For someone who didn't like the Beatles (especially Paul) David sure took a lot of pictures of them. He was probably just jealous.

Just John.

Just Paul.
